Facial Reconstruction on the Skull

Facial reconstruction on the skull is used to aid in the identification of skeletal remains. The forensic artist works closely with an anthropologist to create the facial features of the unknown individual based on the underlying cranial structure.

3-Dimensional Facial Reconstruction

In the 1960's, Betty Pat. Gatliff and anthropologist Dr. Clyde Snow developed what is now known as the Gatliff-Snow method or the American method.

Based on her training with Betty Pat. Gatliff, Karen T. Taylor later developed the technique of drawing over photographs to create a facial reconstruction.
